That is, the owner.group for /dev/ttyS0 is root.dialout and so to get nut to work one has to do an adduser nut dialout. Doing an adduser nut nut, which fixes the problem, seems to me to be a hack, not a proper fix. [Bug 120086] Re: [needs-packaging] add tomcat 6
I'm going to test this out once the intrepid opens. If possible could you add this into bzr in launchpad ? in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BzrMaintainerHowto, it's written: * If the package is intended for main, then the team should be ubuntu-core-dev. * If the package is intended for universe, then the team should be ubuntu-dev. what's the team for multiverse, as it needs java2 and for now, there is none in main, neither universe: http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/java2-compiler - It would make sense to include previous changelog entries as the package is based to tomcat5.5 packaging and also credit the original packagers. I packaged it from scratch, with great inspiration from the tomcat5.5 package, (with exception of the policy.d directory that i evily copied), but this is sufficient for a credit. - Providing and using dedicated user, tomcat6, would be better security-wise at least ok - Using port 8080, might cause trouble with existing servlet containers. Maybe default to something like 8280 as the tomcat5.5 package is using 8180 nod - Not sure about the mod_jk addition to server.xml, seems unnecessary? it is not necessary, but the purpose of a distribution is not just to ./configure,make;make install. I should put either more jk integration, or just none, it's a good question - tomcat6 package probably needs java2-sdk in Depends as JDK is required to run tomcat it uses the eclipse compiler (libecj-java) to compile jsp pages -- [needs-packaging] add tomcat 6 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120086 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If user has samba package already installed then nautilus-share doesn't install libpam-smbpass package :( It's very easy to reproduce: 1. install samba and do not install libpam-smbpass package (remove it if it's already installed) 2. Press right click on any subfolder from your home folder and choose Sharing Option from menu. 3. Click on Share this folder and then click button Create Share As you see - you can share a folder even if you haven't libpam-smbpass installed and you don't get a dialog with suggestion to install needed libpam-smbpass package :( Btw, AFAIK nautilus-share package should have libpam-smbpass package in Recommends or Suggests field, like samba package. [Bug 214736] Re: screen dims on boot
acpi_osi=Linux has no effect for me either. I use Kubuntu 8.04 on a Lenovo 3000 C200 laptop. I did a fresh install of Hardy. I get this dimming on every boot, at exactly the same point - somewhere around when the hardware drives are being loaded. When the desktop is fully loaded the brightness comes back automatically. But the login screen is quite dark. The same thing happens at shutdown, and the reduced brightness then remains at the beginning of the next boot. I can however get the brightness up with the brightness keys, but only if I do it quickly at the very start. But the dimming then occurs again when the harware drivers are being loaded. The brightness buttons on my laptop work at the start of the boot process, but then stop working as soon as the brightness drops. When the brightness automatically comes back (when the desktop is loaded), they start working again. The same dimming also occurs every time I start VLC. It also happens when I switch off Enable power saving in KDE Control Center. (Reenebling the power saving however does not resurrect the brightness.) I can always get the brightness back to normal if click on the Power Manager applet, and then change the brightness setting there. The brightness control there is set to maximum, although the actual brightness is very low. Changing the setting to something else (doesn't matter what) gets things back to normal (I usually take it down a notch, and then back up to maximum). I can also - sometimes - get things back to normal if I touch anything in Monitor Display - Size, orientation Positioning (in the Control Center), but that part of the Control Center behaves strangely and unpredictably. Those solutions are of course just temporary. All I need to do to dim the screen, is to start VLC, or reboot. Nothing like this happend in Gutsy, neither in Ubuntu nor in Kubuntu. I haven't seen it on any other version either. It started with one of the beta or RC versions of the Live CD, and it remains in the final release. [Bug 194864] Re: F-Spot crashes with SIGSEGV on open
Up to date Hardy and F-spot still doesn't work properly on AMD64. If I go to a terminal and keep trying to run f-spot over and over again, it will work about 1 in 20 times (the other 19 times, I get the same error as the submitter). This is kind of embarrassing that a program that ships as part of the default install doesn't even run. It makes Ubuntu look like it was just kind of thrown together and not tested at all (I'm not saying that's the case, but someone new to Ubuntu might think that). [Bug 185254] Re: system freeze after resume from suspend to RAM
Howdy! I have the same issue, but with some interesting additions. So my laptop is an nx6110, with a Pentium M processor. Suspend works fine, but many a time resume results in a blank screen (I think its still off), the hard disk light glows for some 10 seconds steadily and then nothing happens. Even at this seemingly crashed state I can resume by pressing the power button many times: (it seems I have to press the power button for some 1 second and then leave it) after some three-four trials, voila -- it resumes! This is *not* a hardware issue, since it works fine with gutsy and some older kernels (it breaks between 2.6.24-5 and 2.6.24-7) Please let me know what kind of debug information should I get you, and how to get it! [Bug 188787] Re: no wacom tablet driver (no autoprobe, patch available)
Hey guys, Well I did the Vincenzo patch and, with nvidia, Igor is correct it did not maintain the nvidia settings in xorg and they had to be copied and pasted in . however, as nicely as this works, it is not enough !! This is unacceptable for handicapped individuals who require a wacom tablet to function on a computer. This is having someone jump through hoops which is the opposite of offering accessibility features!!! excuse me if I sound a bit irritated, however this lighting speed every six month approach to ubuntu , at least in this case, is out of hand. I think anyone who uses or requires wacom tablets would have been more than willing to wait until auto detection was fixed. This patch is nice and it works with some adjustments using nvidia, however i would never expect any of my handicapped clients finding their way with this patch, which from their point of view, would require them to pay me to fix the issue. I dont know who creates the agenda list for the next version of ubuntu, however when it comes to things that have already been implimented, ie wacom tabelts autodetection, and it is not working on the new version of ubuntu, then that particular issue should be high on the list of fixes, otherwise there is no need for a new version if it steps backwards. I apologize if i sound picky or aggressive here, but I do have handicapped clients and I do tend to get very agressive when i see something like this occur. In my opinion , this is mind boggling. Accessibility features must not be seen as secondary issues to the working of the OS, it must be at the top of the list of requirements for the system to be realesed. I think it's irrelevant that it would push the release date to 8 months instead of 6. -- no wacom tablet driver (no autoprobe, patch available) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188787 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 223854] Re: middle-click the desktop switcher to launch Expo
Thanks nglnx, I probably failed to make myself clear. There is, by default, no way to launch the expo function of Compiz using only the mouse. To change this users have to install an additional package and browse through its options, which detracts from the feature's discoverability. Compizconfig-settings-manager Lets you map this function to an edge or corner of the screen, but the user might NOT want that. I for one have buttons and menus in that area, so I'd probably end up launching expo when I wanted to click the gnome menu or something. Middle-clicking a workspace-related item like the desktop switcher, on the other hand, would just make sense. So that was not a question I was asking, actually, it was a feature I was asking for.
