Thanks Steve, That's fixed it for me (Setting /etc/samba/smb.conf to:
name resolve order = lmhosts wins bcast host).
I had previously thought that adding the value wins in the line in
/etc/nsswitch.conf as suggested by va9rant had fixed it, and it had, but
it also stopped the network drives

The 'iface eth1000 inet dhcp' trick didn't quite wok for me, but I'm not

To repeat myself: is anything going to be done about this bug?
I went to the trouble of reporting the bug and making patches in the
first place because a lot of the hype surrounding Ubuntu is about its
community, and I thought a simple bug report, accompanied by a patch,
would (at the very least)
press escape during boot and choose the 2.6.24-19 kernel.

(http://www.translink.com.au/) the frame containing the Journey
Planner moves slightly to the left of screen. This partially obscures

I've just made a brand new install of Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron so this
problem is with Totem 2.22.1.
I used Xrandr to configure the S-Video to work through my TV. Specifically I did
xrandr --addmode S-video 800x600
xrandr --output S-video --mode

This is very old issue. It was fixed in 0.5.0. Latest upstream (and packaged,
at least in Debian) is 0.7.1.
I think this bug should be closed.
