This looks very much as the result of /etc/nagios3 having been manually
deleted. Purge nagios3-common and nagios3. After that they should be
fine to install
I can reproduce this bug in MySQL 5.0.24a-9ubuntu2.4 (edgy)
It appears to have been fixed in MySQL 5.0.38-0ubuntu1 (feisty)
Do note that even affected MySQL versions can detect/handle ERROR 1436.

I've been having similar problems and looking for a long time for a solution.
Finally seems to have solved my problem.
I do not understand how different installed packages decide to modify
/etc/resolv.conf and sometimes without consideration to each other. In my case,
I use

with the ssh command, i.e. something like

then I always get kicked out after the packages are downloaded, or
more precise, I assume directly before dpkg is called. I only have

I actually tried that, but the recompiling/configuring ImageMagick did
not work for me: I couldn't get it to compile with the png/jpeg options.

OpenVPN, but IIRC it worked that way with all vpn types. I also made a
pptp vpn connection and that did not work either. Does double-clicking
trigger the connect action? Because that doesn't seem intuitive.

Can not connect to vpn using plasma-widget-networkmanagement
Its Ubuntu 8.10 and this problem persists. Only it seems to be worse - if a PS2
mouse is plugged in (runtime or before powering on the laptop), it seems that
the synaptics module is unloaded and replaced (?) by the psmouse. This disables
the touchpad vertical/horizontal scrolling.

On my dell latitude d600, I've been running the test kernel for a couple
of weeks. The problem is less frequent but still present.

I have a Huawei E220 USB modem. It worked in 2.6.28-11-generic (My First
Jaunty Kernel on fresh Installation) but not working in

If I turn off Wifi (using the switch on the side of the laptop - i.e.
hardware switch), before hibernation, then switch back on after the

I guess this is not a bug directly in xfce4-volumed, but somewhere else, but so
far I don't know yet what happens exactly. Every time when my system is idle
for some time and the display goes into suspend mode, xfce4-volumed will start
to take 100% cpu. Definitely not what

The staff group is a system standard group which is created when your
system is installed. If you have a regular Ubuntu installation and
something removed that group, then that something is the component with
a bug, rather than Emacs.
Granted, emacs could be made more robust against this error.
