[Bug 726461] [NEW] sshd on lucid causes kernel panic
Public bug reported: I have an HP ML115 running Lucid 64 bit. It's got 4 2TB Samsung drives in a software RAID 5 and is used to backup a bunch of servers (using rsnapshot), and also to mount a snapshot of our SAN (using OCFS2) and copy virtual machine images over. About once per week it hard locks with the attached messages. I've tried changing the RAM in the box (went from 2GB to 4GB, both HP branded sets). I've also removed AppArmor completely, but still get this message. [Bug 723983] Re: virtio-net performance in 10Gbs lan
Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately your reference links got abbreviated so I was unable to follow them. Could you please provide a little more information about your particular setup: 1. Which version of Ubuntu are you on? I'm wondering whether the KVM 0.14-rc1 in natty still has this problem. If you're not on natty, I'll ask you to try to reproduce with the latest qemu and kernels (separately and together) so we can try to nail this down. 2. Can you give the full command being executed in both cases (i.e. ps -ef or /proc/$pid/cmdline output)? Since presumably this is being spawned through two layers (by eucalyptus through libvirt), there could be inadvertant bad interactions between some of the options. 3. I'll wait to see output of 2, but will probably want to see the results with the shortest possible hand-made kvm command lines. ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/723983 Title: virtio-net performance in 10Gbs lan -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 648202] Re: vsftpd started even if not in standalone mode
** Description changed: Binary package hint: vsftpd (lucid vsftpd 2.2.2-3ubuntu6) because of a syntax error in /etc/init/vsftpd.con, vsftd is started (and respawns a lot as it fails to start) if there's no listen=yes in /etc/vsftpd.conf /etc/init/vsftpd.conf has: - if [ -e ${CONFFILE} ] !egrep -iq ^ + if [ -e ${CONFFILE} ] !egrep -iq ^ *listen(_ipv6)? *= *yes ${CONFFILE} without space between ! and egrep. As a result !egrep returns with an error (!egrep command not found) and as a result, the script assumes the listen = yes line is in the file. Moreover, if the /etc/vsftpd.conf file is not there, vsftpd is also started which I suspect was not intended. Moreover egrep is not a POSIX command. Would be better written as: if ! grep -qEis -- '^[[:blank:]]*listen(_ipv6)?[[:blank:]]*=[[:blank:]]*yes' $CONFFILE; then... + + === + SRU Justification + + IMPACT: See above description to see the its impact. + + REPRODUCE: + + 1. [Bug 393012] Re: [SRU] smb: Error while copying file, Invalid argument
Will this be fixed for 10.04? I am a bit surprised to see that the samba package is not installed on my desktop: $ sudo apt-get install samba Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Suggested packages: openbsd-inetd inet-superserver smbldap-tools ldb-tools The following NEW packages will be installed: samba 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 6,822kB of archives. After this operation, 18.4MB of additional disk space will be used. Get:1 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main samba 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.3 Yet autofs seems to mount my SMB shares on the network (I have no shares on this machine) without a problem. [Bug 726790] [NEW] python-vm-builder-0.12.4+bzr462-0ubuntu1: swap partitions fail to be created properly when lucid is the target
Public bug reported: I am using version 0.12.4+bzr462-0ubuntu1 in Ubuntu Natty. I've noticed that when I build a lucid virtual machine, it complains during boot. During build, I see this in the build log: 2011-02-28 15:36:01,700 INFO: Adding type 3 partition to disk image: /tmp/tmpnFjJJ2 2011-02-28 15:36:01,707 INFO: [0] ../../libparted/filesys.c:148 (ped_file_system_type_get): File system alias linux-swap(new) is deprecated 2011-02-28 15:36:01,713 INFO: Creating loop devices corresponding to the created partitions 2011-02-28 15:36:01,721 INFO: Creating file systems 2011-02-28 15:36:01,833 INFO: mke2fs 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010) 2011-02-28 15:36:14,592 INFO: mkswap: /dev/mapper/loop0p2: warning: don't erase bootbits sectors 2011-02-28 15:36:14,592 INFO: on whole disk. [Bug 584480] Re: qemu-system-arm segfaults emulating versatile machine
Thanks, Balau. Proceeding with SRU request. ** Description changed: + == + SRU Justification: + 1. Impact of bug: qemu segfaults when emulating some arm architectures, unless '-m X' (for some low X) is specified. + 2. How was the bug addressed: a patch is added which lowers the default RAM size for ARM architectures. + 3. Patch: See the linked sources trees (for lucid and maverick) + 4. TEST CASE: 'qemu-system-arm -M versatileab -kernel zImage + 5. Regression potential: if there are users whose arm systems require a larger RAM size, they could experience regressions without specifying '-m 356'. [Bug 714335] Re: KVM SMP Linux Guests Hang on AMD
@Brian, I've uploaded a kernel .deb which (hopefully correctly) re-implements the two fixes which looked most likely to address the bug, at linux- image-2.6.32-29-generic_2.6.32-29.58ubuntu1_amd64.deb.
