My findings: right after boot there is no wireless connection. But after
rmmod iwlagn; modprobe iwlagn, all is fine. So even without adding
options iwlagn 11n_disable=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/.

I'm affraid I'm getting too old for Ubuntu. I've worked with Ubuntu since
7.04, and it worked fine - but problems increased upp trough 8.04, 9.04 10.04
and now in 11.04 it seems to me, that problems can't be solved since opdates
can't be done.

Please note that the 8560w may have the NVidia Quadro 1000 (with the
Optimus feature...) or the AMD M5950 graphic card (no optimus).
I think that the nouveau.modeset=0 patch is strictly NVidia related.
So may be that the different behaviours reported may be related to a

When clicking the 3rd workspace someplace (I don't remember the

Actually, may as well repurpose this one to the task.
The image made with dvdbackup appeared to work on quick inspection but
actually it errors and after the Pixar logo skips half of the movie.
Looking around online, Wall-E is a known-problematic DVD. A bug report
was filed with Debian about it

I can see this too.
I found the following facts:
- if you run xdg-user-dirs-update after removing the .config/user-dirs.dirs
file, it regenerates it without translating the ~/Desktop name, but everything
else is translated.
- if you run xdg-user-dirs-update --force, the ~/Desktop name is
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
