Very painful issue - system NIS server non functional and whole network

A quick workaround that solved my problem with this:
First install libnss-ldap
Configure ldap stuff, test if you can login but can't use setuid apps.
Then install nslcd and configure.
After these steps my system is working, and allowing me to login with
ldap account and use sudo.

This is certainly the case in Ubuntu 12.04 (which no longer has python
2.6)
In 11.10 and earlier support both 2.6 and 2.7 - by default you should
get whatever version of python is default for the release you are using
through the 'python' package

It looks like you have an odd bacula-client package installed - its
showing up as 5.0.2 rather than the version released in Ubuntu Maverick.
Also bacula-client from Ubuntu is just a meta package and does not

I've been able to reproduce this issue using aptitude, but not apt.
Aptitude automatically removes (rather than purges) libapache2-mod-
passenger when you purge puppetmaster-passenger.
As a result when you re-install puppetmaster-passenger (and hence

I'm not sure that /etc/ldap.conf is installed by libpam-ldapd - it will
certainly try to parse /etc/ldap.conf if it exists on upgrade but by
default its configuration is installed in /etc/nslcd.conf. This change
happened in 2009 so I think its un-related to what you are seeing.

I don't think that the bug is duplicated, I had the same problem with
the fresh 12.4. qemu-kvm 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu13.

I'm using a MySQL database but when you install OpenStack with apt-get,
of course at this moment, you can't configure OpenStack; so the nova-
manage db sync command called by apt-get creates a SQLite database. It's
after the installation you can change the database from SQLite to MySQL
in the nova
