I finally managed to get the problem fixed. The issue is not with the
iwlwifi modulce, it is with ubuntu's new dns resolver. I edited
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and commented out the
dns=dnsmasq line. From then on, all problems have disappeared. I am
refiling this bug as the dnsmasq

The /etc/nagios-plugins/config/pgsql.cfg configuration file includes a
check_pgsql_4 command, which should force the connection to use IPv4.
However, the program called, /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_pgsql, does

Hm, I'm not sure what the issue is here. indicator-loader3 is handling
libsyncindicator.so correctly, and it uses
indicator_object_new_from_file() too.
Just for comparison's sake, what happens when you load up an indicator
with indicator-loader3 on your system?

just an update: Tv was right about the use of virtualenv: sphinx has to
be *built* in the presence of sphinx-ditaa and asphyxiate, not taken
from an installed system package. The burden on virtualenv can still be
minimised if all other deps are installed [from platform repos
(ubuntu)], but not
