GNOME 3.10 provides support for a different background image on the lock
screen than what is displayed on the desktop. We want to use this for
the default ubuntu GNOME settings.
It will require backporting a few patches for various components, but
nothing to invasive.

I just tried 12.04 again, and it hung again after clicking the Reboot button.
After a few minutes I pressed ctrl-c and then after a second it rebooted.
