This is already in debian and there is no reason to put it in ubuntu 13.10 as
an FFe. This will be ready next release, therefore invalid.

and is a duplicate of bug #649139, so is being marked as such.
This is all fixed for me within (at least) Saucy.

@davidonlaptop I'm now forced to stick to 2.2.0.35, until they solve
this Skype bug. 2.2.0.35 has some problems of its own, so it's not ideal
but the best alternative I have found so far.

Problem was that I have entered the gsettings commands SSHed in from
another machine. Now I have tried again on the machine's own screen and
the switching works, but now I cannot log in any more. .xsession-errors
contains
Script for cjkv started at run_im.
Script for default started at run_im.
Now, after doing it again and again, it started to work.

The latest version of rsyslog (5.8.6-1ubuntu8.5) seems to do the right
thing to me.
ubuntu@hloeung-testing:~$ ls -lad /var/spool/rsyslog
