While upgrading from impish->jammy, the screen went black and nothing
could wake it up. Hard reset brought up a half-upgraded system that gdm
couldn't start on, booting to text console and finishing upgrade via apt
(combination of `--fix-broken install` and `full-upgrade`)

I updated the machine yesterday, and additionally added the fingerprint
to pam using pam-auth-update. The screen now stays purple after logging
in using the finger, but works fine after logging in using the password.

I had a similar issue yesterday - not during release upgrade but when
installing package updates (Ubuntu 21.10):
package libc6 2.34-0ubuntu3.2 failed to install/upgrade: unable to open
'/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2.dpkg-new': Text file busy
The way I resolve it is via dual-boot, I

Agree with the other affected users. The project is not ready to be
forced on Ubuntu users - maybe never will. Personally I have two main
issues that I can not accept:
1) Forcing automatic software updates without user consent.
2) Putting a hardcoded visible folder into the user home
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
How far did you get in troubleshooting sound? ie. did you attempt to
follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure
or another wiki site?
I believe a Support site would be more
