I replaced Ubuntu 11.10 with 12.04 64 bit beta on my brother's laptop 1
1/2 weeks ago. Everything worked perfectly until last night when I did
updates for him. Following the updates, which were listed as a Partial
Distribution Upgrade, upon rebooting, there was not any

From reading the comments above, some are saying this is a feature. I
don't think so, and the collate should not be an issue. Single page
dosuments have the same thing happen. For 10 copies of a single page the

i was able to fix this by googling for my brand / model of laptop and

there are numerous forums that list procedures to fix, typically by editing
/etc files
i did several of them and now it works.
this was added to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
alias
correction.
it does NOT work
when i close my laptop lid and reopen, the sound is not there.
also the little speaker icon in the menu is gone.

OK, that is the problem.
in src/util/cgmanager.c, we are calling cgm_dbus_connect() from multiple
threads.
it in turn assigns 'cgroup_manager'.
but this is a global (static) var. So the threads fight over it, and corrupt.

bool cgm_running = false;
so part of the issue is cgm_* is not thread safe, but is called from various
threads.
e.g. if u start libvirtd w/ several instances already running, it will call
cgm_dbus_connect from each.
there is a pair of global variable:

bool cgm_running = false;
this patch to libvirt gets it going.

First of all, the locale file in question confuses people because the
comments are incorrect. I think it may have been updated at some point
and the comments weren't updated.
That being said, officially, the decimal seperator for South Africa is
actually a comma and not a full stop, for example

format for currency specifies that a , (comma) be used as decimal
seperator the same rule does not apply to standard numbers. This means
that the LC_NUMERIC section indeed have a bug as it stands.

Just to amend my previous post again, perhaps I shouldn't say that every
South African uses the decimal point, but certainly the majority does,

I don't think there is a source that will support my claim except that every
South African uses the decimal point for currency and numeric values, even on

into contact with the NMISA (National Metrology Institute of South
Africa) organization. Apparently they are preparing an update of the
regulation to be gazetted in 2014 that will indicate that both the comma
and decimal point

I increased my ulimit on the # of files, and the renderer no longer
gives the Snap problem
i ran the ppa image on 10 blades for a day in my production. its cycled
through ~10K instances. so far so good, it appears to have solved this
issue.
