[Bug 1921345] Re: Support MIPI camera through Intel IPU6
> From kernel's point of view, there is still a known issue that it takes > root priviledge to access these devices. There is a way to run the gstreamer plugin as normal user via udev rule: https://github.com/intel/icamerasrc/pull/9 The IPU6 processing subsystem does not use a V4l2 device node in contrast to the Input system. Re: [Bug 232172] Re: MASTER no wlan option for pppoe configuration
Hey, no idea. As in the last 5 years pppoe as connection method has been overtaken by new router types and broadband connections are (i guess almost nowhere) paid by time anymore, so the need to connect and disconnect every time is no longer required. [Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2
It's not always easy to check that the pasted text it's the correct one, then this is a data corruption bug. That is why I think this is a critical bug. Worse, the most affected users of this bug (non-technical ones) are very unlikely to ever report it. For example, I am a programmer and I only discovered this bug when my wife, a non-technical user, reported it to me. She started to see cut and paste problems with Ubuntu 19.04, almost one year ago, but at the same time, I have never had any problem, because, as a programmer, I mostly use different software. My wife has never filled a bug report, as most non-technical users (I think). [Bug 1721719] Re: gvfs-info bashism
You are right, the bug is fixed upstream. I have manually downloaded gvfs-bin_1.34.1-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb and checked the file: it includes the fix. However it is not fixed on my computer. And I do not know why. Unfortunately I have not found the package in /var/cache/apt/archives, then I am not sure if the .deb installed on my computer is the same. I have never tampered with my installation. This is a fresh install of Artful Beta1 updated once a day with "apt dist-upgrade". I dont know what has happened. Regarding the use of "$@:2", there is no error displayed because: 1. "$@:2" is valid syntax in both shells, but it is clearly a bug because it is expanded to "$1" "$2" ... ":2", which does not make sense. I think that in bash it should have been "${@:2}" (2 is an offset), while in dash the syntax is not supported and you should use "shift" instead. You can check it by running: $ echo 'echo "$@:2"; echo "${@:2}"' | bash -s foo bar foo bar:2 bar $ echo 'echo "$@:2"; echo "${@:2}"' | dash -s foo bar foo bar:2 dash: 1: Bad substitution 2. "gio help info" discards all parameters after "info", then for example "gio help info :2" is equivalent to "gio help info". In short: I think you can safely remove "$@:2". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721719 Title: gvfs-info bashism To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1721719/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1638990] Re: nvidia-367 with kernel 4.4.0-45-generic won't boot
This bug renders the system broken for anyone using nvidia drivers + fully updated ubuntu 16. I agree the work arounds aren't all that easy to implement. Nouveau is not really an option for most people because of poor support and low resolutions. To get the older kernel to work you have to rebuilt the Nvidia drivers. I had to do this from console because unity refused to log me in. According to the wiki any bug that affects the system from booting should be classified as critical as well as any bugs affecting large portion of users. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance. [Bug 1003950] Re: launcher does not show minimized update manager while clicked
Eric Lambart, did you close the app by right clicking on the launcher icon and choosing Exit from the menu, before trying to launch it? To find the app, you have two options: 1. or write software update (without the final r) in the dash (Super key OR Super+A, not Super-R). 2. choose System details (I dont know the exact translation, but should be the first menu item) from the gear menu in the top right corner. Then click the button in bottom right corner, if updates are available. About the crashes, it's off topic for this bug, so please report it as a separate bug report. However, since I had similar problems, I can say you that it's probably a problem with the video drivers. [Bug 671789] Re: Shotwell rotates images incorrectly
Shotwell 0.14.1 here. Steps to (re)produce the bug: 1) import images without copying - thumbnails and images are displayed correctly, as per the orientation tag 2) double click on a vertical (i.e. taken in portrait mode) photo 3) right click - open with external editor (gimp) 4) gimp asks if I want to rotate or not - yes, rotate 5) modify image, then save 6) shotwell starts eating 100% cpu and eventually crashes; when re-launched, the image is distorted (see screenshot) issue 6) happens about 80% of the time. For the record: photos were taken with a Canon 60D camera, and are located on an external ext4-foramtted USB hard drive. ** Attachment added: Distorted image as shown by shotwell after being edited with Gimp. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/671789/+attachment/4203551/+files/screenshot.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671789 Title: Shotwell rotates images incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/671789/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly
Hello, I am affected by this bug since, a couple of years (same laptop here, 530U). I have personally experienced it on my laptop on multiple Linux distributions (including Debian and Arch). I perfectly understand your policies, but I do not really see the rationale behind closing the bug with WONTFIX and asking a lot of people to open a lot of new bugs to signal the very same thing. For me, the bug is indeed solved by the juanmanuel's userspace program (thanks a lot!) I've been running that program since it was posted on this thread, and it works like a charm. The bug is also clearly described upstream on the kernel Bugzilla, where juanmanuel's solution is being turned into a kernel patch, so an upstream fix is likely to be on the way. I hope you'll find a way to put in evidence the relevant information, especially when there will be 100 opened issues for this SINGLE problem (or 100 issues immediately closed as duplicates???): this is clearly a SINGLE bug with a SINGLE reference to a SINGLE upstream issue. From my side, I am *not* going to open another bug just to increase the Internet entropy (and reduce the likelihood for someone searching about the problem to find the workaround)... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971061 Title: acpi reports battery state incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/971061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1079618] Re: Menus do not show up when opening an existing file
apport-collect does not work for me because I am not the bug's reporter. However, I have tried to find a reliable way to reproduce this bug. I have found it to be very easy to reproduce on two computers, but it is not that easy to understand when it happens. I have come to the conclusion that it is a race condition, because it happens more easily when start-up is slower. Sometimes the menu is shown and seems to work, but clicking on any menu item does nothing. Sometimes the shown menu is the menu of oosplash, instead of the menu of the application (Writer or Calc.) Sometimes the menu is shown only by doing Alt+F10 and not by holding down the Alt key or hovering the mouse on the top panel. Sometimes the menu is shown after switching to and from another window. [Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly
Regarding post #30. In the attachment you'll find my patch to upowerd (file to be patched is src/linux/up-device-supply.c). I applied the patch to upstream upowerd, recompiled, and disabled via apt updates to upowerd. Basically, this detects battery status basing on the AC adapter status (if the status is not consistent, in the sense that the battery reports discharging and the AC is plugged in, I set the status to UNKNOWN so that the following code treat the status as discharging basing on AC status, and so on). Moreover, I had to enable polling for AC adapter (I don't know why uevents are not reported nor how to enable them for AC status, I'm not a kernel\low leven stuff expert..). The drawback of this is that status changes are not recognized immediately, but at least are recognized... ** Patch added: up-device-supply.diff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+bug/971061/+attachment/3396148/+files/up-device-supply.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971061 Title: acpi reports battery state incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+bug/971061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly
On 06/10/12 09:41, Jon Cowell wrote: After BIOS update all was well for 15hours only! Also for me, things worked well (both lid and power status) during the first weeks of life of the laptop (a Series 5 Ultrabook). Yesterday, after updating the BIOS I tested power connect/disconnect recognition in both Windows and Ubuntu 12.04 and suspend on lid closure. Everything worked fine. Then, in Ubuntu 12.04, I suspended the system over night. Next morning, lid closurefails to be recognised by Ubuntu. Power connect/disconnect fails to be acted upon properly by Ubuntu. In Windows, lid closure still fails but power connect/disconnect still recognised - but it takes several seconds rather than being almost instantaneous when all was well the night before. I found that /sys/class/power_supply/ADP1/online (the status of the power adapter) gets updated correctly, while the battery status (charging/discharging), as found in /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/status is frozen in the status after power on / resume after suspend. So MAYBE in Windows power connect/disconnect is triggered by power adapter changing status instead than by battery. I worked around this problem by applying an ugly patch to upowerd so that power status change is triggered also by power adapter... and that works acceptably for now. Lid closure, instead, is completely broken also if suspend works well. Can't test in Windows as I wiped out the windows partition ;) Very infuriating!... is this Ubuntu corrupting things in the BIOS or is the BIOS somehow corrupting itself with respect to ACPI.
