Currently an arrow to the left is used for the default cancel and no
icon. This metaphor is already in use by the default revert action icon.
Furthermore the yellow colored arrow doesn't give me the right feeling
for the impacts of a cancel action: all done changes get lost.
I understand the bug report. I wrote a function that uses the correct
units and applies a different accuracy depending on the the size.

This is a valid and good point. But this behavior is the default GTK one
and I haven't found a way to change it. You can also find the same
situation in evolution: If you sort by date, you will get the oldest
message on top. Perhaps this is not always the desired behavior too.

could use several different mount points for his file system and we
don't know how much space the installed packages requires in each

The problem seems to be an error in launchpad po file export function.
It turncates the plural definition in a wrong way. So if you reimport a
po file, it will break.

sources.list using Software Sources? Software sources should present you
a dialog.
It seems that we need a sanity check in gnome-app-install to fix this

updates are enabled. If so it downloads the latest repository

Strange that there is no icon for the education section, Vincent. Which
theme do you use? Would you like to install an a education app and check
if there's an icon in the GNOME application menu?
The other icon should be fixed with the next upload. We missed the
freeze of KNOT 3. So wait some days
@Sander: I don't think that so many users will select the select in the
progress dialog. Error or info Dialogs are different.
The problem is, that if the text label is the only part of the window
that can be selected, gtk will select the whole text. Seems to be a bug
in GTK.

It doesn't require X. It only tries to make use of it, if its available.
Since the patch only unsets your DISPLAY variable and update-app-install
works in my local console, I assume, that you have a DISPLAY variable
that points to a non working/accessible x server. That is why the
programm failed.
It offers the main server and the server of your locale/language
settings. It seems that you have chosen en_US. That is why you see the
server for the USA.
I think that the main server is located in GB. So it makes even sence in
your setup.

Currently only app-install-data and app-install-data-commercial provide
application data. So the cache needs to be updated after their
installation.
I am unsure if it's worth the effort to implement an idle time handling.

The problem of the duplication of apply and ok is perhaps the missing
feedback from the application. The user feels unsure if his or her
changes have been applied correctly. If you click on apply at first, you
get the chance to control the changes easily.

I see some objections: At first g-a-i ist not a dialog nor an instant
apply application. It is an explicit apply window. See the following

Please don't be pathetic, Lee. With the provided patch the postinst
script doesn't fail anymore. So we are talking about some warnings, that
appear if the caching app cannot connect to the given x display. These
are not nice, but I am not sure if this a bug of high priority.

Did I say something about usability tests of Novell? I don't think so.
From my point of view there is no need for discussion. The dialog
violates the GNOME desktop conventions. And using finish instead of
close in all GNOME dialogs is really out of scope for edgy.

I already wrote an email to the GNOME usability list about finish/close.
The decision to make gnome-app-install a dialog was made by the
developers and not by the authors of the HIG.
But I think that is ok to use the dialog style. Since all capplets are
dialogs. Furthermore I would regard it as
