I'm fairly sure I've got an M3N78-EM that is working just fine under
ubuntu 9.04 (mythbuntu).
This is probably a good question to push off to the ubuntu forums.

Strange. I set everything back to default except I didn't use my
SxxWaitForHDHomeRun script. I manually configured the network and had
Network Manager shut off. I verified I was getting the problem, then
applied the patch. I haven't had a single mysqld process hanging since

Martin,
Is it a good enough test to install over Mario's PPA or would you prefer
I revert mysql, reproduce the error, then apply the proposed over the
top of it?

I'm testing the patch. Works Great! Mario really is Super.
I'm a Mythbuntu 9.04 RC install that was fully updated as of yesterday
(before the PPA test fix). I restored everything to the error state
and verified the error still exists. The error state does have the
problem. (mythbackend log

Belgarth:
With ALSA everything is possible :)
The hdmi device that is defined by default in the newer alsa revs
doesn't seem to fix the number of channels or the sample rate. Here is
an asound.config that I posted several months ago on the ubuntu forums.
This config defines a virtual device
On a fresh install of mythbuntu 9.04 I get this problem. The fix
described above does not work for me. (It doesn't change the behavior
at all as far as I can tell).
My situation is more complex since I use a HDHomeRun tuner (so I need
the network working as well). Here is what I've tried:
1)
With the alsa 1.019 and the nvidia 180 or greater this works. In 9.04
it works out of the box.

Not a bug. In the tuner setup EIT scan was enabled. That caused the
lights to come on. The tuner was pulling a small amount of data in
checking for EIT information on the channels. Not a bug -- A user
error.

I've got this problem on Ubuntu 9.04 RC (Mythbuntu). Dang strange
database behavior. It seems mysql sometimes boots okay but sometimes it
boots and I can't connect to it.

It works for me. I didn't do anything special. No asound.conf. I just
did a reboot and now when I speaker-test -Dhdmi -c2 it works.
The only problem I seem to have is the volume control in mythtv isn't
working for me...

I can't get any volume control to work. Alsamixer doesn't seem to
affect the volume. If anyone has any ideas I could sure use them ;)
