After apt-get remove mlocate I get run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/find
exited with return code 1 every day.
/etc/cron.daily/find is a cron job to run updatedb. Why is it in the
findutils package instead of mlocate?

I found the solution for my case:
chmod +x /etc/cron.daily/apt
This broke during the upgrade to Jaunty. The current package has the
correct permissions. I have no idea how it went wrong.
I'm reassigning this one to apt, which should be closer to the problem.

Unfortunately, it's sporadic. It's reproducible by logging in, and
doing normal everyday things for a while, and eventually it gets stuck
there. I've not noticed a specific sequence of events that triggers it.
It also reindexes every time I log in. I'm not sure if that's related.
