I have the same problem. EMU 0404 USB worked flawlessly in intrepid, even with PulseAudio. Now, the card works fine without pulseaudio (for example `aplay -Dplughw:1 wavefile.wav` works). However, with pulseaudio, there is static and noise only and after a few seconds of playback pulseaudio

I recently installed a 2.6.28 kernel I built myself and it completely fixed the problem for me. My guess is that the problem is upstream in the kernel, if not the uvcvideo module than something related. In any case, probably not much that can be done about it on the ubuntu end. -- uvcvideo
