[Bug 433488] Re: calling GLX 1.3 function glXCreatePixmap when GLX 1.3 is not supported

2010-06-23 Thread laptoplinux
I can confirm this. Same scenario. Clean install of Lucid on separate
partition from HOME. Had no problem in Karmic AND if I re-install Karmic
this problem goes away.

To be honest all of these different bug references have me confused so I ma not
sure which one addresses my problem specifically but...

2010-06-16 Thread laptoplinux
There are similarities in behavior with that bug but it doesn't seem to
be exact. Only Font and Visual Effect setting aren't preserved. Theme
and Background are preserved.

As to session storing. I don't know. I did a clean install of Lucid
(because every time I use upgrade from one distro to another it borks my
system). So the question is does the default install of Lucid do session
storing? How do I check that?

Yes I believe I can write to my user directory without any problem. Or
rather, I haven't hadn't any problems that make me think I can't. It is
on a separate partition from the file system and has functioned without

Currently the permissions are:

Group Read
Others Read, Execute

Are these correct?

[Bug 594442] [NEW] Wireless switch doesn't function unless laptop is rebooted.

2010-06-14 Thread laptoplinux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

If I turn off the hard switch for my wireless, the wireless radio stays
active. If I disable and enable wireless in the Network Manager it still
activates the wireless radio even though the switch is off.

If I turn off the hard switch for my wireless and then reboot the
wireless radio is off and not detected. If I switch it on, it will be
detected and activated but then I can't turn it off again via the same
switch.

This is reproducible everytime.

Enabling and disabling wireless from the Network applet manager
functions properly.

[Bug 436356] [NEW] cpufreqd sets minimum frequency to maximum frequency possible.

2009-09-24 Thread laptoplinux
Public bug reported:

I had an interesting and frustrating problem.

I had to reinstall Jaunty due to a borked Karmic upgrade. Prior to that
I was successfully running cpu frequency scaling and could use the gnome
applet as well.

So I am setting it up again on a clean install of Jaunty and it works
fine. I could change frequencies with the gnome applet etc, I reboot
once and something went wacko.

The applet will let me select different frequencies/governors but would not
actually change the frequency! After doing some troubleshooting I discovered
that the minimum frequency had somehow become set to the highest frequency
possible.
Hopefully the info below will make what I am trying to explain clearer.

cpufreq-info
cpufrequtils 004: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2006

So for some reason I could not understand, cpu frequency scaling thought
that the minimum speed is 140 and the maximum is 140 which is
causing my problem.

It turns out that Jaunty doesn't like cpufreqd which is odd given I had
successfully used it for quite sometime. cpufreqd forces the minimum
frequency value to be the same as the maximum so I will also file it as
a bug.

[Bug 426072] Re: Gnome Applets fail on boot. If I boot my PC the Gnome Applets fail to load.

2009-09-09 Thread laptoplinux
Thank you for the replies.

Yes it is reproducible. The Gnome-Applets fail to load on EVERY boot. If
I log off and log on they will ALWAYS load properly. If I hibernate or
suspend they may load or may not load. I am not sure what additional
information to give. To reproduce this error all I have to do is reboot
my machine or boot it cold. Until recently thsi was not a problem and I
haven't made any changes to my machine other than the regular updates.

Thank you for the killall tip. It was helpful. I have attached my
xsession file for your review as well.

[Bug 426072] [NEW] Gnome Applets fail on boot. If I boot my PC the Gnome Applets fail to load.

Public bug reported:

If I boot my PC the Gnome Applets fail to load. I get the warning
dialogue indicating that they didn't load and would I like to delete the

with no problem.

Any suggestions/ideas? Should I report this as a bug?

2009-08-01 Thread laptoplinux
This is still a problem for me and it is most prevalent when I use the
terminal. If I send an interrupt signal (CTRL C) my keyboard will become
unresponsive forcing a me to restart X. It also happens when I use hot
keys in other applications and seems to be isolated to CTRL C, X, or V.
ANy fix coming down the pipe?

[Bug 343732] Re: scim causes keyboard input to get stuck: problem persistent in jaunty

I can reproduce this problem consistently if I press command c or v in

thinking that maybe something went wacky because of the upgrade but the
same behavior is exhibited. Very frustrating.

Should I open a new bug report or Question as I am not sure that my
problem is related to this one and I don't know how to troubleshoot
isolate it?

Public bug reported:

If I quit firefox from the GUI the window closes but the process still
runs in the background forcing me to kill it from the command line.

However, if I launch firefox from the command line and then quit
it...the process closes as well.

as they are all dependent on the FN key.

Is there any progress on a solution?

Thanks
