I am wondering if @c4pp4's work was integrated into kernel 2.6.32-23?
After upgrading to this kernel, the output volume matches his patch.
Unfortunately, the mic still doesn't work.
Thx,
Jay

First off this is NOT a complaint. ;-)
Can anyone point me to the procedure for having a fix permanently
applied to the kernal? I am not familiar with the process and would like
to know.
Thx,

Hi Zeth,
Sorry it was late for me when I last replied. I just received 31-19 from
the pre-release updates/repository. I get pre-release updates by; Admin

c4pp4 has been graciously been providing the corrected kernel when each
one comes out. (many thanks c4pp4) I just got 2.6.31-18 today from the
pre-release repository. I kinda doubt if c4pp4 has had a chance to apply
it to 2.6.31-19.
Here is his PPA.
Hi Zeth.
I updated mine yesterday and the mic works fine. FWIW.

Thierry,
I agree that from my initial submission it is a bit confusing. When I
upgraded to 9.04 I switched from calling KVM from terminal to the
virtual manager. The error after upgrading to 9.10 was what appeared in
virtual manager. In trying to get the VM working, I reverted back to
starting it
Good bye KVM (unistalled) and Hello VirtualBox.

Today 'another' update to proposed kernal 2.6.27-14-generic was
downloaded and applied and now all sound (in and out) does not work on

[regression]snd-hda-intel sound input
I finally get a mic that works in Skype now. The digital input comes set
to 50% and works well at that setting. This makes me very happy!
The PCM playback does not distort anymore but some Hulu videos have the
sound levels recorded kinda low and they are hard to hear now. Amarok
works well
Does anyone know if this issue will be addressed in 9.04?
Thanks,
Jay

I have a Lenovo R61 and the sound with Intrepid 8.10 and kernel 2.6.27.7
is way over-modulated and has no sound after suspend also. The sound
with Intrepid 8.10 and kernel 2.6.24.21, is fine for modulation and
after suspend. With both kernels, the input mic does not work.
--
no sound after
Sound output just took a turn for the worse with 8.10. Now the internal
speakers are way over modulated and scratchy even at lower volumes. Let
all the way up it is deafening. If I try to record a message with Sound
Recorder to test the mic, the elapsed time clock is way fast and
eventually locks
The sound issues are related to the new Linux kernal. When I drop back
to 2.6.24.21 then the sound output is fine again.
