01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation NV31 [GeForce FX 5600] [10de:0312] (rev a1) xserver-xorg-video-nv v1:2.0.0-1ubuntu3 Nvidia FX5600, Dell D1226H monitor, Sony XBR800 TV With Ubuntu 8.10, neither LiveCD or Install work in default mode, due to this bug in the nv driver: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309702 I can use Safe mode (IE the VESA driver), but the only resolution available is 640x480. I see the Hardware Driver notification, but when I click on it, the window that opens doesn't fit on the screen, so I am unable to see or click on the Activate button. Kubuntu 8.10 doesn't have this problem.
