I can confirm that I get the same error message with Lucid.
I have raised upstream bugs. According to Lennart, a Pulseaudio developer, the
problem (10 months ago) was Uh. This needs to posted as a bug against the a52
alsa module upstream. It shouldn't return EAGAIN on snd_pcm_commit().
It is not repeatable in a live environment and I have no idea why it should be?
Ubuntu doesn't ship with the A52 plugin by default as there are some patent
issues I think.
However this is compilable from the source available from the repos.

Ok so this has resurfaced in Karmic.

One of the updates in the last 2 weeks has broken my a52 again.
I get awful breakups and so on.
