Same thing here, I selected the moodle, moodle-book and moodle-debian-
edu-theme in synaptic. The details showed on the progress window showed
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Same thing happened to me in my Ubuntu 9.04. I was installing with
Synaptic both moodle and moodle-book. This is the error code I got:
