Can you please reupload that SRU with reverting the build dependency
change? That's not quite appropriate for an SRU, as it might change
existing behaviour.

There is little point SRUing this for maverick now. It's EOL in two
months, this isn't a very important bug, and it has survived with this
bug for most of its lifetime.

Title:
ntfs-config crashed with OSError in __init__(): [Errno 2] No such
Installing hal solved the problem here.
How about adding hal as a dependency in the metadata of ntfs-config package?

You shouldn't need to install hal - as far as I'm aware you just need to
create the directory as noted by aysiu in a previous comment -

If that's the case I shouldn't need to create the directory either.

ntfs-config crashed with OSError in __init__(): [Errno 2] No such
I have the same problem on Kubuntu 11.10 64bit freshly installed. It's
really serious, many users are in panic without this tool!

I got this just on automatic background mount shortly after rebooting
and logging in. Was rebooting after todays updates at 14h15 GMT.

The root cause of this is that ntfs-config has a dependency on hal.

Title:
ntfs-config crashed with OSError in __init__(): [Errno 2] No such file
This is a year old and still hasn't been fixed.
Another workaround is to paste in this command:
sudo mkdir -p /etc/hal/fdi/policy
The problem is that when it crashes now in Natty, there is no error
message unless you launch the application from the terminal... it simply
asks for your password
apt-get install hal
