After some more research, I found following instruction that solved my problem
(so far :-):
Using a Terminal=Applications-Accessories-Terminal
Open this file for editing:
Code: gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Insert this line at the bottom:
Code: options snd-hda-intel model=3stack
The same problem with me. Not sure if alsa or pulseaudio is the problem.
I installed maverick 10.10 last month and the sound worked fine until I
updated yesterday the system (what I do regularly, last one befoe
probably in the beginning of this week). But yesterday no sound at all
