I've reported this upstream (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=670038), and a Rhythmbox developer replied that this problem was a consequence of an Ubuntu- specific patch. In case I wasn't clear, the problem is with restoring Rhythmbox from Gnome3's Message Tray in the lower-right
