Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10 on Acer Aspire - hopefully you've got full details in the
log files. Starts and gets to X-windows login prompt. At any point
from here on in, if I move the mouse cursor, X-windows crashes and
restarts.

I can see in the syslog file there's an error:

gnome-session[3588]: Gdk-WARNING: gnome-session: Fatal IO error 11
(Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.#012

(you may have the latest syslog file without that in - it seems to have
re-started a new one in the past 30 minutes or so, I would *facepalm*
but my forehead is hurting).

This problem started on Sunday Feb 12th - it did an automatic update of
some stuff (I didn't take too much notice). One thing was it reckoned it
could only do a partial update, but still seemed to be OK. Then
prompted me to reboot and on reboot - bang this problem surfaced. I
also dual-boot this machine to a 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04 install (and am
refusing to take that through the upgrade to 11.10 until there's a
satisfactory fix for this).

Reading around some forums (for Gentoo, Redhat and Ubuntu) it seems this
is in Gnome 3 - though other users have different but related problems
(usually different combination of actions before X-windows crashes -
some even get to use the machine and do stuff first).
