Same here! When installing anything I get this error message. I recall
first seeing this message when I installed wine. I was presented with
the error message right after the installation process had finished.

We are already waiting for years, and nothing did really happen. It is a
shame.
Even if it is far from being a perfect solution, it is better to propose
a workaround like the script of Scott Severance than to do just nothing.

CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut
I can confirm this bug. I set up a fresh install of ubuntu. and share some
folders using Nautilus right click menu. After ubuntu installs samba I create a
user with smbpassw and edit the smb.conf so that workgroup matches my
workgroup.
The network consists of a winxp home machien and an ubuntu
