Thanks for the update,
Since the put error affects the same range of NAS boxes as the crash, I'd
prefer to wait a little and see if we can fix both in the same update. Those
who quickly (and only) need read access to work can use the
2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4~ppa3 from my PPA.

:-/ I didn't get badk to this, and this bug is closed now. ..but for
informational purposes...
Regarding password probabilities reflecting reality, I was assuming that the
root password that came with the system was randomly generated, and wouldn't
be subject to dictionary or probabilistic

Ack, I'm glad I'm not the only one to encounter this. I was pulling my
hair out thinking it was a problem with my configuration, but couldn't
figure out what it could be, since I don't have this problem in Dapper.
It just seems to be an issue in Hardy.
If it helps any, I encountered this problem
I had the same problem as originally posted. I am running a Subversion server
in an OpenVZ container (2.6.24-21-openvz) with latest updates to libgnutls13.
My Subversion server also authenticates using LDAP SSL. Initially,
authentication would work correctly but then after a period of time
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openssh-client
After upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10, I could not log into any machines via
ssh where I had already configured public-key auth. This happens with
both rsa and dsa keys.
The error given was:

Thanks for the traces, I'll have a look at them first thing tomorrow.

I can't confirm this symptom in 9.04. Please set the status to:
1) New if reproducible in a supported or development Ubuntu version, or
2) Invalid if you cannot reproduce it in a supported or development Ubuntu

Hi folks - I was trying to fix this for hours, and have a (albeit
idiotically simple) fix that worked for me:
on the client, /etc/samba/smb.conf file
[global]
# THE LANMAN FIX
client lanman auth = yes
client ntlmv2 auth = no
Notice the word CLIENT in front of both of those... try to
Ok, it seems like we're misreporting the byte count in the WriteAndX
request, looking at a fix.
