Thanks for the additional info.
It's kind of expected that samba mounts at boot time and NetworkManager-defined
networking (which goes up when the Gnome session opens) do not play too well
together... However it should have worked without any issue when networking was
defined in

Hi
Thanks for the mail.
The directory did not exist, when I installed mySQL. Probably the problem
appeared because I had tried installing mySQL earlier and then had deinstalled
it again. Some config files must have stayed on my system, so when trying to

Still struggling to reproduce this.
There seems to be something CUPS-related that results in secrets.tdb
corruption with Unable to open tdb '/var/lib/samba/group_mapping.ldb'
error messages. Once corrupted, this file seems to trigger libpam-
smbpass segfaults.
Following the error message lead,
Hi, thanks for the answer.
Yes, this seems to be a duplicate, sry about that. Made a quick search, but
didn't find the other bugs back then.
Anyway, I purged samba and cups, without any result. I can reproduce the
bug by installing libpam-smbpass again.

Ah something else (sry for double post):
I tried to connect to the printer inside my Windows VM (Virtualbox), but no
avail. So I tried to have a look at cups again and noticed it would'nt work
anymore. And I have a 64bit version of ubuntu.
But don't know if these are in any way related.

Whoa - stop!
Comment 9 does not describe Bug 354243 directly, but rather, a related
situation. That's what all those words I typed into Comment 9 mean. I
had hoped the the additional information would be helpful. I'm sorry it

I opened Bug 354243 specifically because of the confusion
it's not so complicate to have a clear description specify:

- the actions you are doing
- what happens and what else you would expect
in this case extra informations:
- what server type do you try to contact
- can you contact it using samba command line
