Emil, rather than remove, it would probably be safer to just rename the
/etc/init.d/nis script to prevent it firing. We have a local package
here with the necessary changes and it appears to work fine. After a bit
more testing I'll upload for others to review.

A followup to Bill's comment above:
I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 and dovecot failed to start, claiming to
have problems with the sieve configuration in line 691. After some
fooling around, I found Bill's comment above, and decided to backup the
existing dovecot.conf and replace it with a new
i reworked the changes by tomcrus (thanks for the elegance ;) and
removed all reintroduced bashism. so here is the current of the core
logic to shutdown guests.

libvirt-bin. while the condition regarding the runlevel by tomcrus works
great, it seems we are not able to simply delay the shutdown process

instead of destroying vms, wouldn't be a more elegant solution to save
the state of the VM in a statefile?
On bootup, upstart would check for such statefiles and restore the
VMs. This would work even for VMs that don't react to ACPI events
properly and saves the VM's uptimes.

So, after the heated debate at UDS, I turned byobu on for a couple of my
own personal servers (1 Karmic , 2 CentOS).
I have turned it off on one of those machines since, but rather enjoy it
for the other two. The main reason is that I ssh into that box 2 or 3
