Being a developer myself (but not in Linux, yet) I should have guessed the
stack trace is not enough.
A new bug report got created, bug #383347.
I subscribed you to it, so you should have access to it.
Anyway, I'm curious about what's going on, on the technical level.

We hope to get this fixed in the graphics driver soon. Disabling a
screensaver is a workaround (and maybe a needed one with the current
state of affairs), but the bug might kick in somewhere else as well.
Mike, I am not totally sure your bugs are the same as Øyvind's, so I
would recommend you open

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
After the last upgrade of the intel driver the performance of the World-Of-Goo
demo game went from smooth and crisp to one frame every 2 seconds.
Desktop effects are crisp and smooth, though.

Description:
I tried 7.04 and it works well, but I have some new problems.
1. Moving windows, scrolling windows and video playback from youtube etc. are
very choppy
2. I can't login without external keyboard
3. Hardware buttons doesn't work

I tried a few other resolution configurations.
In each configuration in which the Display applet alerted me that the
Virtual line needed to be added to xorg.conf I was left with the blank
screen I mentioned.
In each configuration in which the Virtual line was *NOT* needed I
could successfully
Just to make it clear, setups with *different* resolutions on the
screens work too. E.g. 800x600 on the external screen and 1024x768 on
the laptop screen works fine.

I tried to build 2.4.1 on Jaunty and it didn't work straight away. I
think we should be able to use the 2.4.1 driver from Reinahart Tartler,
though (https://launchpad.net/~siretart/+archive/ppa). It includes the
patch that is
Hello.
I solved this issue performing a downgrade of the jaunty's drivers, I installed
the intrepid's xserver-xorg packages.
I changed the repositories of Jaunty by the repositories of Intrepid. Then I
removed the xserver-xorg, xserver-xorg-core, xserver-xorg-video-tdfx and
related packages
