I have a Samsung N130 netbook with a multitouch-capable Synaptics 7.2
touchpad, but for some reason, Xorg doesn't see the multi-finger
capabilities that the touchpad offers. I shall attach a debug-info file
from the mouse control panel in Windows

@Geir
Standard Xubuntu Lucid froze after 5 hours of uptime. If it's of any relevance,
I was playing Freecell when it happened, and I was trying to move a group of
cards from the left-hand-most pile. On previous occasions, this action has
caused freezes. I was playing Freecell at various times
... on second thought, this may be a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics/+bug/308191 . I shall attach my synaptics debug info there.

I just reported a bug:

it's most likely a duplicate of this bug.
Handy hint for in Windows: go to the mouse control panel and press
alt-shift-i, and it will give you a debug dialog. I have attached the saved

[i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in
so am unclear why it took so long for the freeze to occur.
I just remembered that I'd turned on desktop effects not long
previously, to try and cause something to happen, if it was going to.
That may be a contributing factor.

According to the upstream bug report this issue seems to have been due
to a bad system configuration. Since there's been no reply from the
original reporter I'm going to assume we're not likely to make any
further progress on this bug.

I can reproduce this with anything that consumes CPU. Audacious doesn't
exhibit the behavior even under full CPU load.
Worst (another bug?) the sound player (most probably the sound
infrastructure) hangs under extreme loads, to the point of having to
kill it.

From the upstream bug report, best guess is that this is a hardware
issue with the docking station. Following suit and closing bug as
wontfix as per upstream.

Upstream traced through the logic and determined that indeed it is OOo
that is drawing the black border, not the X driver. Bumping back to
OOo.
Having stepped through the cairo calls (and been quite offended by the trace),
OpenOffice really does draw a black border around the presentation. So
Last week I wrote a patch to log messages with timestamps in Xorg logs:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26180
Differences with the Ubuntu patch:
- patch LogVWrite() to write the timestamp before any kind of message
- detect the new line character to avoid multiple timestamps
