I am running a sony vaio, with ATI Radeon Mobility HD3470 graphics.
I have also suffered with the minimize/maximize problem with lucid and
karmic.
With Lucid alpha 3, LiveCD, I boot up (I have not installed it) from CD,

The problem was observed on both Karmic and Lucid (current as at March
2, 2010) using both the open-source radeon driver and the proprietary
fglrx driver on different ATI cards (at least RV730 and RV740).

Another one... this time I just killed Xorg before it actually
segfaulted, but I was able to capture a screen shot of what a mess my
desktop became, and also ran the nvidia-report-bug.sh tool and got a
support log, which I'm attaching.
