You have to use NVIDIA's configuration tool, as the driver does not support xrandr 1.2. So neither xrandr nor gnome-display-properties can be used for setting this up. Try seeing if that tool does it; if so this bug report should be duped to the general -nvidia lacks xrandr 1.2 support bug. **
