I agree that it does appear that this bug report was possibly hijacked
as the OP issues arose before. A majority of the comments are after
July 18, with nothing between March and July.
But as the OP hasn't been involved since March, it is hard to know what
the status of the original bug is.

I lied, just got this with my T420s. It was my wife's session that
crashed, my own was fine. Not directly related to suspend I think,
there's a VT change involved when changing user sessions (mine was the
active one). Synaptics seems to reprobe itself after the VT change -
(occasional) boom.

so I haven't been able to participate.
The problem is still occuring, but I am not sure if it's the same bug as other
posters.

Started happening to me recently, but only sometimes when I close the
lid and suspend that way. Reminds me of the bug that still occurs on my
old HP laptop that's caused by the GNOME screensaver.

I have almost identical system with NuageBleu describing in post #431
and I got hard freezes with no other way than hard shutdown/reset.
I also use JetBrains software, Chrome and playing music when freeze
happens.
My system:
Ubuntu 12.04 64bit (all updates installed)

I haven't tested on current mesa, but I do remember this happening on
965gm before. I plan to take a look at this one.

Thank you for taking the time to report this crash and helping to make
this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1033533, so is being marked as such.
After playing with xfce, I found it affected by the Bug.
The desktop + everything in the panels that is not a launcher or an icon in the
tray doesn't respond anymore to taps (mouse still works).
I don't know how I got this though.
