blob. Same problem on any desktop - KDe, Cinnamon, GNOME Shell.

Worked this out with Dell support. Apparently a common problem with
Dell Precision M6500, but not sure of the reasoning. Problem was

Nick, you were right. I figured out that I was probabily forgetting to
unload the fglrx module after changing it. So, I restarted the system
(in order to avoid any mistake), and fglrx from Ubuntu repository
worked.
I also upgraded to your intel module newer package and everything kept
working
I tried adding the sources for 12.04 (and 12.10) but I'm getting 404
not found errors on both. As 12.04 is an LTS release, I think I may go
back to this version plus support is covered untill 2017. I'd just like
to thank you for all your help and advice.

Same here with GeForce 7025, in adition ther is a lot of video
corruption and gets worse while playing flash video. Propietary drivers
make my 4 cores system so slow that it is unusable and noveau keeps
crashing all the time 8-P
