This appears to have been fixed in Mesa some time by 12.10. Last time I
could reproduce it was in oneiric (Mesa 7.11) but can't reproduce it now
in quantal (Mesa 9.0). Given the comments on this bug kind of stopped
around April, it could be that the fix was released in Ubuntu 12.04 with
Mesa
Oh, that's a different crash. Please install xserver-xorg-video-intel-
dbg to catch that one more accurately in future :(

I think I found fix for my case. Ubuntu x64 freezes completely, intel i5.
I've noticed that when system freezes, chrome is always on.
So I've switched to firefox, and guess what, no more freezes!
