first. So I've done step 3 and applied the workaround, restarted the
system and tried to reproduce the issue. Nothing, all is working fine.

I get the exact same results as comment #25.
It's worth noting that since first reporting the bug I've upgraded to an
SSD for the root filesystem. Yet the problem persists, even with the now
much faster disk.

is also running 11.04 (64bit). However, it has an Intel GM965 graphics

I'm experiencing this issue on a Lenovo U160 (Intel GMA HD) running Xubuntu
11.04 instantly after closing the lid. The lid close action is set to do
nothing. Afterwards I have to hard reboot.

kernel 2.6.35-27-generic (i assume it is the one you're speaking about)
Is it normal, that this bug doesn't occur every time on tries to suspend
the computer? Because it worked today, and 1 h later the bug came again.

I additionally installed the now:
xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg
driver package!
will see if it happens again!

I can confirm Stevenson Dorastin's issue on my desktop hardware (Intel
945G/GZ). Your proposed workaround (metacity --replace exit) fixes it for the
moment. If necessary, I'll attach my logs (lspci, gdmlog, etc.).

Same bug here. I did an upgrade from lucid to maverick. My destop pc
uses the following Intel graphics adapter:

Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA
I can confirm that the patch works in i386 with mga_drv (additional
patch for mga needed, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source

Also affected by this. However, X loads after about 2-3 minutes at the login
prompt.
At the moment I have a znote 6625 with 8600m gt on linux mint 10.10 Gnome
32-bit RC.
