There is not much special about KMS, just make sure it is enabled in the
kernel configuration, and boot with radeon.modeset=1 if it's not enabled

The word from the upstream developers is that fixing this on non-KMS is
just too difficult. There are too many variations between OEM boards
even with the same chipset. They concentrate all efforts on getting this
fixed properly in KMS. Dave Airlie recently posted a patch which made
resume work on
As pointed out in bug 455601, the driver runs out of memory if using EXA
with only 32MB VRAM, so reducing virtual screen size or colour depth are
workarounds.
This might be less of a problem when using KMS, where video memory is
handled by a memory manager.

I am able to reproduce both issues on RV515, by installing kwin and
running "kwin --replace", then right click on the window frame to

Yes, the drm-modules-source might be outdated. I will update them soon,
since I see that agd5f's tree has got some updates. But it is probably
better to use a kernel with drm-next. I have no time to look at a ppa
kernel, but I have asked the kernel-team about it.
