The ability to offload rendering from one video card to another is
already implemented. It is called PRIME. The problem in your case is
that the open-source nouveau driver in Ubuntu 14.04 only has basic
support for your NVIDIA GTX 750 and needs you to extract the microcode
files after installing
There is a PLL frequency fix for your AMD RS880 graphics card in the
upstream 3.19 kernel which may help. Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet is now
based on the 3.19 kernel.

not interested in fixing this and believe that the current behaviour is
both correct and acceptable. Some of them seem to be suggesting that it
is the job of the window manager/desktop environment to pass the desired

A couple of last minute HiDPI fixes have just been added to GNOME shell
3.12.
More relevantly, Unity 7 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr will have support
