Michael Knopp, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and
trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, Nick Andrik's PPA is not a
software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because
of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug.

I actually originally attempted the official xorg package and was trying
this workaround as suggested by you in a similar bug report. Should I
resubmit this exact report but with the official package instead?

supported package, without any third-party-packages installed (ex. unsupported
PPAs), via a terminal:
