I can also confirm this bug on a similar machine with this intel video chipset : 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01) I neither have a screen saver nor desktop effects. This is a fresh and updated install.
