Public bug reported:
Recently installed 12.10 from both desktop / and alternate. Neither one
had working video support. In 12.04 the support works with
1:2.3.3-1ubuntu1. In 12.10 the version that is not working is
1:2.3.6-0ubuntu. Video doesn't work at all.

The X is screwed up, incorrect display on the screen. There are four
large stripes and nothing recognizable when the DM is launched. However
the splash screen with lubuntu and the four dots does come up correctly.
Immediately after this splash screen, the display is garbled. Yes, similar
