Long before there was this “kisanja” thing, members here did not have an iota of respect to our legislature, now with the kisanja talk, you are all convinced that the referendum can be manipulated whereas MPs cannot be swayed.  For Uganda to have achieved this status where MPs are now respected and are believed to be working for the interest of peasants, we need to thank all those who have tirelessly worked to bring this reality.  We now have MPs who cannot be bought – that is Matek’s understanding.

There are known knowns - there are things that we know that we know. There are known unknowns - that is to say, there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns ... things we do not know we don't know. And each year we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns."  Us Secretary of Defense 2001 -?

Assuming that term limits are removed, then 10 years down the road and citizens want term limits back, and then they are told that only the MPs have the power to decide whether we have them back or not, citizens will feel powerless that hey cannot decide on who governs them and for how long.

ED. HOW SURE ARE YOU THAT THE SO CALLED REFERENDUM WILL NOT BE RIGGED IN FAVOR OF KAGUTA...THE MAN HAS RIGGED EVERY ELECTION  SINCE  THE ONE...THAT IS THE QUESTION?  WHY ENGAGE IN AN EXECISE  WHICH IS FUTILE ANYWAY...MORE OVER VERY EXPENSIVE?

True, the referendum exercise is very expensive, so is dictatorship when a certain clique attempts to impose its own views to the people without giving them (the people) a chance to decide how they should be governed now and again.

I detest the days when a ruling party has more than 2/3 of MPs in the house that is why power must be given back to the people. lIKE i SAID,  YOU  MUST HAVE NATIONALIST  WHOSE INTEREST IS THAT OF THE NATION AND NOT THEIR STOMACH.

By the way, do you envisage a referendum on Federo in Uganda, or it should be left upon 199 MPs to decide?

AT THE RATE THE SO CALLED FEDRALIST ARE BEHAVING  ( IE NOT PLAYING THEIR POLITICS RIGHT) ONE SIMPLY IS LEFT WONDER AS TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN.
