Intimidation irks Kabale voters

By Darious Magara

Some voters in Kabale have complained of intimidation and voter-buying.

The complaints have been registered at the office of the Kabale district returning officer.

Mr. Adison Kakuru, Dennis Nkwasibwe and Geoffrey Nzaana are tussling it out to take the district chairmanship which fell vacant last year following a court ruling against Adison Kakuru in favour of Dr. Francis Runumi.

The registrar, Idi Kahwa, said they had received some complaints, but the exercise was largely peaceful.

Nzaana and Nkwasibwe complained that cheating was being done by supporters of their rival.

Commissioner Steven Ongaria and Kahwa said although the exercise started with a low voter turn-up in the municipality, it was expected to improve. They said other areas had registered a good turn up.
