I agree. Although this has to work before Perl is installed, so we
may need to use VBscript (yuck) for the first time in the entire
project.


Don't know exactly if it works for you, but you *can* install Perl via cmdlines.txt and the $OEM$ Structure, so maybe you don't need VB...
