Greetings List,
I just wanted to get some feedback on a potential
configuration I plan on implementing. I am required to deploy both Linux and Windows systems
on a network, and I would like to combine the two installations in to the same
diskless client, which will be booted via PXE. When the diskless client launches (it's a Debian
installation BTW), a perl script runs and queries a database to establish if the
work station (based on mac address), should be installing Linux or
Windows. If it is Windows, then I would pass control off to the
master script, if it's linux I pass control over to FAI which is an automated
Debian installer. The Debian diskless client will automatically do the
probing of hardware and loading of driver modules, so I won't need the master
script to manage any of that. Can anyone provide a little background on the Linux boot
media used in unattended please, so I have a better idea, what I need to install
in my diskless client, to have it launch the master and install.pl
scripts. Any feedback on this subject would be greatly
appreciated. Cheers, Mitchell Smith |
