Most likely, it is valid. Addname.exe is part of the MS DOS TCP/IP set of utilities since Lan Manager. Take a Look at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;112578 From that page, you can download it as part of the Win4Workgroups TCP/IP stack, if you don't trust your helper...
