Is it possible to
add custom questions to the initial install dialog without modifying
install.pl? I have already made one patch to install.pl but I want to stay
away from that if possible so that I don't run into problems with
upgrades.
Thanks,
Tyler
I need to join an XP machine to a Windows 2000 (AD) domain. I have
edited the lmhosts file, and that will resolve the issue once Windows
has been fully installed. While XP is installing it tries to join our
domain, but it won't be able to, because the lmhosts file is straight
from the i386
OK, here are some basic suggestions that you have probably already looked
at:
1. In your unattended.txt, do you specify the DNS servers?
2. Are these DNS servers able to resolve the domain (e.g. try resolving
domain.com)?
3. After the machine is installed, are the values in the DNS servers box
Well I found the answer to my own question thanks to google. In our labs
we install both PCL and PS drivers for each printer. This can be fun ;-)
To save settings to file:
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /Ss /n csb2054-col PS /a file.dat
To Restore all settings from a file
rundll32

I can ping the server if I fill out the whole IP name, ie.
myDC.ece.utk.edu will ping successfully, but myDC would fail. The net
use command is old enough that myDC.ece.utk.edu will not work with it,
but if you use the Map Network Drive feature, you can use the whole IP
name. I think that if

Hi,
Do you have WINS setup in your environment? That is MS preferred way to
browse across subnets.

Hmm. I'm lost here.
I cannot use the first machine, but
Hello,
when I change the unattended.txt file (by config.pl
or by a final edit),
is there a log-file, where I can see what happened
during the
unattended installation?

Well, it turns out that the MSCLIENT stack *can* do DNS resolution;
you just have to load the dnr.exe tool first. And possibly
configure it.
I have put a copy of dnr.exe in
http://unattended.sourceforge.net/testing/. To try it:
1) Add it to your boot disk
2) Edit \net\tcputils.ini to add a
