Re the SPAM:
Could we subdivide our list, having one list for NON-commercial
communications and a second that would comprise commercial info?
Then subscribers who ONLY want the NON-commercial emails would
have an option to avoid the commercial solicitations.
Would that help?

Thanx Ann:
New list can always be created if needed. I am speaking
about the quality of the one we currently have. As in all
things in life, people decide what is appropriate and
representative of themselves.

Title: [UC] the implications of sending rice to the president
Natch that I'd sound all high-and-mighty-clean-up-your-post-y, then have my post come through with the website cut into pieces. The universe bends toward justice. Coitanly (soft c) does. J
Let me try again, to see if it works
My 2 cents:
I have no problem receiving email from the listserv, whatever my neighbors want to
say. If I'm not interested or I don't want to read it, the listserv, and all of our
computers, comes with a filter. It's called delete.

. . . and most email(er)s include a Subject.
I have received some fascistic replies to my posts that lead me to believe
that some prefer this list to be moderated.
I know all of my posts are entirely relevant to everyone, no exceptions ;)

Ouch! Debra, your message hurt my eyes! Couldn't you have cleaned it
up before sending it on? Do that again and I may be tempted to send
rice to President Bush but throw rice at you! :-)
Sending bowls of rice to Dubya sounds like a cute idea. And the
inclusion of a Bible
May I add my 2 cents to Karen's 2 cents. I agree with what she says.

Anyone have first-hand experience with on-demand (tankless) gas hot water

The point is why should anyone compose and send

I promise to be brief no matter how long it takes.
By the way. It is also not net savvy to use your work related e-mail

by your employer or you are subscribed to a profession related list

I've used them in Europe, the good ones can work quite well. No
experience in the States, so I can't recommend brands or contractors.
The bad ones
I don't think it is a fair characterization to use the word 'marketing'
in reference to a single announcement by one individual of something
they want to sell and that it may be of interest to others in the
neighborhood. We are not talking about a commercial outfit taking
