Re: Alan Hoffman died today Some of you may have already heard, but my brother-in-law, Alan L. Hoffman, passed away this morning at 3:24 AM.
Alan was born in the New Jersey suburbs. He fell in love with my sister, Tina, as they shared a passion for books. They married, he moved into her UC Philadelphia home, and no matter what turns the neighborhood took, he couldn't imagine a better home or neighborhood. Tina worked while Alan continued his education, obtaining a Master's Degree. Alan loved the convenience of the SEPTA Trolleys and the beauty of Clark Park. Because his commute was so minimal and easy, Alan was always able to work two jobs (full time at a large Center City firm and part time at Community College) and still make time for his family, their pets and for community activities. Many people know Alan as the "guy who walked Sam" (a large Sheep Dog) others may remember his faithful attendance at block cleanups. His kids, now grown with many successes of their own, can remember a father who was proud of them and also delighted with the Son-In-law and future Daughter-in-law that had been brought into his life. Alan was only 60. His cancer was diagnosed on his 60th Birthday. It was fast moving. He passed away in the week in which we celebrate the Birthdays of Tina our Brother Bill and our long departed Mother. His is another early death probably related to his addiction to cigarettes. I hope those fighting addictions will win their battles. I know Alan will be missed by many. Because the kids were various ages and attended local schools the roots ran deep and spread throughout UC. Shown below is the text which will be submitted as his obituary. He was the cherished husband of Florence "Tina" (nee Campion) and loving father of Martin A. (Cheryl), Alana Marie and Mary H. Pohlig (Chris). He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne (Kathy) and Wesley (Tess), his uncle, Bill Fagundus, and many other loving relatives. He was an Eagle Scout, U.S. Army veteran and the Vice Commander of American Legion post 204. Services will be private. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: "de Sales / Campion Scholarship Fund" c/o St. Francis de Sales School 917 S. 47th Street Philadelphia, PA 19143 If you wish to contact any family member by e-mail, you can send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.hoffmanclan.com ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
